American Idol to end in 2016

American Idol, the sometimes star making TV show will be ending in 2016. Fox announced that Season 15, premiering January 2016 will be the last season of the once powerhouse show after years after declining ratings. It is thought that Fox is essentially giving respect to the show by letting it continue for one final season, after it wraps up Season 14 this month.

Once an untouchable, white hot gargantuan hit beating out every other show on television by millions of viewers, American Idol's ratings have cooled in recent years as tons of tv shows based on the same premise filled television schedules across many networks. The most popular of those shows, The Voice, recently beat American Idol in the ratings for the first time. Ratings for Idol peaked in Season 5 with an average of over 35 million viewers, but continued to end the TV season as the #1 most watched show as viewership for all of TV continued to decline. By Season 12 Idol averaged 17 million viewers for the season resulting in a #7 finish for the year. By Season 14 in 2014 the show dropped to a #22 finish for the year and lost it's major sponsor Coca-Cola.

American Idol was a cultural phenomenon for 10 seasons, making stars of the winners and even finalists. Kelly Clarkson, Jennifer Hudson, Carrie Underwood, Adam Lambert, Fantasia Burrino, Mandisa, Ace Young, Kellie Pickler, Katharine McPhee, Jordin Sparks, Blake Lewis, Phillip Phillips and many many more.

Fox states that the 15th season of American Idol will be a celebration and a tribute to the amazing run and cultural impact of the show. American Idol, Season 15, will debut in January 2016.

Watch Madonna drunkenly answer fan questions

The legendary Madonna is known for many, many things, but her humor isn't always at the top of the list.  Too often, Madonna is seen  as taking herself to seriously. The Queen of Pop is actually hysterically funny as evidenced by the video she made for "Live With Romeo - Saturday Night Online". Sipping wine... OK, chugging wine and eating pizza while drunkenly answering fan questions, Madonna is on top of her game and looking better than ever.

She manages to throw shade at Drake, discuss Britney Spears, her own favorite music videos, talk about the drama behind the hacking of the Rebel Heart album and much much more. With a career spanning over 30 years, this is one of the most interesting and revealing interviews Madonna has ever given.

So give yourself a little break and be prepared to laugh hysterically as an icon invites you into her bathroom and makes throwing a piece of paper iconic.

The X-Files Returning to FOX TV

The X-Files Returning to FOX TV

The X-Files returns to TV with 6 episodes
The X-Files returns to Fox for a 6 episode limited series event

And it is finally official! After much speculation and 13 years of waiting, Fox announced today that The X-Files will be returning to TV for a 6 episode limited series run. The mega popular show shaped pop culture over 9 seasons spawning two movies, various comic book series, and an unthinkable amount of merchandise.

Debuting on Fox on Friday nights in 1993, The X-Files slowly creeped its way into the mainstream with the rise of the internet, fan boys, message boards and forums. As the show grew in popularity it switched to Sunday nights where it became one of the most watched TV series of all time. The X-Files followed skeptical scientist Dana Scully and the quick to believe Fox Mulder, two FBI agents who are assigned to investigate unsolved...and unexplainable cases. From aliens to ghosts and everything in between, The X-Files featured both stand alone episodes and longer spanning mythology episodes ("mytharc") that grew the overall story.

The X-Files spawned two movies, The X-Files: Fight The Future (pick up Fight The Future on sale at Amazon)- released between seasons 5 & 6 - and The X-Files: I Want To Believe which was released six years after the series finale. Additionally, it spawned "The Lone Gunman" spin-off tv series and was highly connected to the Millennium tv series. Most recently, The X-Files: Season 10 comic book series (check out The X-Files: Season 10, Volume 1 on Amazon), released by IDW Publishing and written by Joe Harris and executive produced by The X-Files creator Chris Carter, has taken The X-Files story even further with it's successful canonical story.

The X-Files limited series will begin filming this summer with Chris Carter writing, directing and producing, stars David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson returning to portray their iconic characters and the promise of more key talent returning. Carter stated, “I think of it as a 13-year commercial break. The good news is the world has only gotten that much stranger, a perfect time to tell these six stories.

Fox Television Group president Gary Newman stated: "We had the privilege of working with Chris on all nine seasons of ‘The X-Files’ — one of the most rewarding creative experiences of our careers — and we couldn’t be more excited to explore that incredible world with him again. ‘The X-Files’ was not only a seminal show for both the studio and the network, it was a worldwide phenomenon that shaped pop culture — yet remained a true gem for the legions of fans who embraced it from the beginning. Few shows on television have drawn such dedicated fans as ‘The X-Files’ and we’re ecstatic to give them the next thrilling chapter of Mulder and Scully they’ve been waiting for.

The X-Files begins production this summer with a release and title to be announced in the coming months.
